Bread for the Victorian Market
Early in the morning, Mary wakes up in her small London flat. She is a widow and bakes bread to sell at the market. The air smells warm and nice from the oven.
Mary packs many fresh loaves in a basket. She walks through the busy streets, saying hello to neighbors. "Good morning, Mary! Your bread smells wonderful," says Mrs. Brown from next door.
At the market, people wait for Mary's bread. They talk about their day while buying. Bread is important for many families, especially in hard times.
Mary smiles and knows her bread helps the community. She will be back again tomorrow with more fresh bread.
