Coffee Break Confessions
The office kitchen buzzed with the usual mid-morning rush. Emma and Jack found themselves side by side at the coffee machine, the clatter of mugs and soft chatter swirling around them. Jack broke the silence first, lowering his voice. "You ever worry about AI taking over our jobs? I mean, with all this talk about automation, it’s hard not to."
Emma sighed, nodding as she filled her cup. "Honestly, yes. It’s like every article I read feels a little more threatening. But I heard from Lisa that the company’s planning changes in our department that might not be as severe as people fear."
Curious, Jack leaned in. "Really? I've only caught snippets, mostly scary headlines. What’s the real deal?"
She smiled faintly. "Apparently, they’re using AI to handle repetitive data tasks, but they still need humans for decision-making and context. So, roles might shift more than disappear. It’s about working alongside the technology, not being replaced by it."
Jack seemed thoughtful. "That makes sense. Maybe instead of stressing about losing our jobs, we should be thinking about how to learn new skills. Like, embracing whatever AI can’t do well."
Emma nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly. What do you say we look into some courses together? Could be good to have a study buddy, especially with all this changing so fast."
The conversation eased their shared anxiety, replacing it with a quiet determination. As the coffee break ended, both felt a little more ready to face the evolving future—together.
