Counting Coins at Closing Time

8:45 PM - The last customer leaves. Jenna counts the cash drawer, eyes widening slightly. "I'm $50 short," she whispers, heart sinking. Rent is due tomorrow, payday's still three days away.

8:50 PM - She rushes to the break room. "Hey, can you spot me a ten until Friday?" she asks Tom. He nods without hesitation, sliding the money across. Relief flickers, but it’s not enough.

9:00 PM - Jenna dials her neighbor. "Hi, Sarah. I'm a bit tight this week. Could you loan me $40? I’ll pay you back quick." After a pause, Sarah agrees. Jenna feels a warm wave of gratitude.

9:15 PM - She sits down with her phone, eyes scanning her budget app. Dining out this week? Cancelled. New shoes? Postponed. Latte runs? Gone. Priorities have to shift.

9:30 PM - Jenna counts the combined cash. Enough to cover rent now. "Thank you," she breathes, a small smile breaking through. Even in tight spots, community and smart choices keep her afloat.
