Midnight Drumbeats in Edo
In Edo, during the early 1700s, the air filled with excitement as the Gion Festival approached. A young apprentice named Haru practiced his drum beats every evening. His master was strict, saying, "You must feel the rhythm inside you. The drum speaks for the festival." But Haru felt nervous. The thought of playing alone in front of the whole village made his hands shake.
One evening, Haru tried again but made mistakes. His master frowned and said, "Focus! You can do better." Haru wanted to give up, but the village people encouraged him, saying, "We believe in you!"
On the festival night, lanterns lit the streets, and the sound of drums echoed through the air. Haru took a deep breath and began to play. His nervousness disappeared as he found his rhythm. The crowd smiled and clapped, proud of the young drummer who honored tradition with courage and heart.
