Morning Commute Confessions

The bus was full, people standing close and holding the rails. Emma and Jake sat side by side, quiet for a moment. The noise outside and chatter around them made their small talk feel soft and private.

"So, what do you think about us?" Emma asked, looking out the window. "Are we more than just friends who meet sometimes?"

Jake shrugged. "I like being with you, but I’m not sure where this is going. It’s nice, but it’s a little unclear."

Emma smiled a little, hoping he felt the same. "Yeah, I get it. It’s strange, isn’t it? Being close but not really knowing what we are."

They both laughed softly as the bus stopped. The moment felt real and simple, like many small talks people have on a busy morning.
