Pause Before Reply
Jack works as a barista at a busy café in the city. Every day, he meets people from different countries. Sometimes, they say things he does not understand because of their cultural expressions. This makes him nervous because he wants to give good service.
One day, Jack finds a small gadget under the counter. When he presses a button, time stops for a few seconds. He uses this moment to think and remember what the customer said. Then, he asks polite questions to understand better.
For example, a customer said, "Break a leg!" when ordering coffee. Jack paused time, thought, and then asked, "Do you want me to be careful or something else?" The customer smiled and explained it means "Good luck!" Jack laughed and thanked them for teaching him.
Soon, Jack feels more confident. He learns about different ways people speak and express themselves. The gadget helps him pause and listen carefully before replying. Because of this, Jack makes friends and enjoys his work more every day.
