Quiet Talk in the Library

Sarah, the librarian, sat behind the counter with a heavy heart. "They told me today there will be budget cuts," she said softly to Tom, a regular visitor. "I might lose my job. It feels so unfair. I love this place and helping everyone."

Tom nodded slowly. "I understand, Sarah. I lost my job at the factory last year. It was hard to accept. Sometimes, companies think about money more than people. It hurts, but they say it’s for the greater good."

"Do you think it's right?" Sarah asked quietly. "Decisions like this change people’s lives."

Tom looked down. "I don’t know. It’s a tough choice. We all want fairness, but sometimes the rules are not clear. Maybe if we support each other, it will help us get through."
