The Elevator Showdown

The elevator was unusually packed that Monday morning, with people trying to squeeze in before the meetings started. Sarah, a well-liked employee, accidentally bumped into her boss, Mr. Lewis, who was already in a bad mood. "Watch where you're going," he snapped, his voice rising above the murmurs.

Feeling awkward but trying to stay calm, Sarah apologized quickly. But Mr. Lewis wasn’t done. "I can’t believe I have to deal with this nonsense," he muttered, loud enough for others to hear. His face turned red, and his tone grew sharper. Coworkers exchanged uneasy glances as the atmosphere thickened.

One colleague whispered, "He really lost it," while another said, "That’s going to be the talk for days." The tension was palpable, and the once friendly chatter turned into quiet whispers and sidelong looks directed at Sarah and Mr. Lewis.

When the elevator doors opened, people quickly spilled out, some avoiding eye contact. Sarah felt the weight of the silent judgments and knew things at work would change. The boss’s public outburst created a clear divide, making the team feel nervous and stressed about coming days.
