The Friendly Robot Next Door

In a quiet neighborhood, Mrs. Lee and Mr. Johnson often talked about the new robots some neighbors had bought. Mrs. Lee said, "Robots can never understand feelings. They only do what they are told." Mr. Johnson disagreed, believing robots could help people in many ways.

One stormy night, little Timmy was very scared because of the thunder. Their new robot, named Robo, came to Timmy with a soft light and calm voice. Robo played Timmy's favorite song and gently said, "It's okay, Timmy. The storm will pass soon." This helped Timmy feel safe.

Mrs. Lee was surprised. "I thought robots could not care about feelings," she said. Mr. Johnson explained, "Robots do not have feelings like humans. But they can be programmed to recognize emotions and respond in helpful ways, like calming a child in fear. Research shows AI can support human care but not replace it."

This event showed that robots can help us emotionally, not by feeling, but by understanding and acting kindly. The neighbors learned that the real power of AI is to assist humans, making life better, not to replace human care or feelings.
