The Hostel Roommate Choice
When I checked into the hostel in Vienna, they told me I had two possible roommates: Clara, a quiet artist who spent her days sketching in the park, or Max, an outgoing adventurer always planning the next trip. I wasn’t sure who to choose. I usually kept to myself, so the idea of sharing a room with someone loud and spontaneous made me nervous.
That evening, I met them both in the common area. Clara showed me her drawings and explained the stories behind them. She spoke softly but was passionate about her art. Max, on the other hand, was full of energy. He talked about hiking in the Alps and invited me to join a group going out the next day.
I thought about my comfort zone and realized this trip was about more than sightseeing—it was about learning and growing. So, even though I felt shy, I chose Max. His energy pushed me to try things I usually avoided.
By the end of the week, I had climbed a mountain trail and laughed more than I expected. I learned that sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone helps you discover new sides of yourself. Choosing Max wasn’t just about a roommate; it was a decision that helped me grow.
