The Last Leaf on Willow Street
Jenny had always loved her old neighborhood. The tall willow trees that lined the street made it feel like a little forest in the middle of the city. One afternoon, while sitting under her favorite willow, she wished the trees could just grow faster so they could survive the new building plans.
Suddenly, she noticed something strange. The small sprout she had picked up in her hand began to grow bigger—right before her eyes. "What?" she whispered, amazed. Then, with concentration, she tried touching another leaf, and it started to spread and become green again.
Jenny realized she had a special ability to make plants grow quickly. But this discovery came with a problem. The city wanted to cut down the trees to build apartments. When her neighbor called to say, "We have to let the city know, or we’ll lose our street for good," Jenny knew it was time to decide.
She stood in front of the largest willow, feeling her heart pound. With a deep breath, she touched the tree's trunk, focusing all her energy into making it grow stronger and taller. "I’ll use this gift," she said, "to protect what makes our home special."
