It was a sunny afternoon in the city park. John walked quickly to the bench near the fountain. He wanted to sit and rest after a long day.

Just before John sat down, Maria arrived. She smiled and said, "I come here every day at this time. I think I have the right to sit first."

John felt upset. "But I was here first," he said loudly. They both started to argue loudly, and some people looked at them.

Then Maria said, "I am sorry. I had a hard day at work. I needed a place to think." John nodded, "I also worked all day and needed to rest." They both understood each other's problems.

"Maybe we both feel a little like the bad guy in this," John said. Maria smiled. "Yes, but we can share the bench and be kind to each other." They sat down together and felt better.
