Typing in Circles at Dawn Café
Maya sat at the corner table of Dawn Café, her fingers trembling as she typed a message to Jake, her new crush. She wanted to say, "I really enjoyed our chat yesterday," but instead, she accidentally sent, "I really enraged our chat yesterday." Panic rose in her chest as she reread the words. What if he thought she was angry or rude? Maya stared at her phone, unsure what to do next.
Jake replied surprisingly fast but with a confusing message: "What do you mean about enraged?" Maya felt her face flush with embarrassment. She typed back quickly, "Sorry, I meant enjoyed, not enraged! My phone made a mistake." Still, the conversation felt awkward, and Maya was afraid she had already made a bad impression.
Instead of disappearing, Maya chose to be honest and explained, "I get nervous texting sometimes. I didn’t mean to confuse you." Jake responded, "Thanks for telling me. I like that you’re honest." This small moment eased Maya's worries, and they started chatting more naturally.
Over the next few days, Maya took her time to write clear messages and even called Jake once. She learned that being patient and truthful was the best way to build trust. Though the shaky start was embarrassing, Maya felt closer to Jake because she showed who she really was.
