Unexpected Guest, Unplanned Expenses
Hey Emma,
Just wanted to tell you something surprising—Aunt Lisa showed up at my door this morning. No warning at all. She says she needed a place to stay because she’s been having some health problems. I’m honestly a bit stressed because I wasn’t expecting her, and I don’t really have the money to help out.
Hi Jake,
Wow, that’s a lot all of a sudden. I remember Aunt Lisa wasn’t in touch for years, so this is quite the surprise. Do you know if she’s okay? Maybe she needs more help than just a place to stay?
Emma,
Yeah, she had a bit of a scare and went to the hospital yesterday. They said she might have to pay some bills she didn’t plan for. She’s worried and asked if we could cover some of the costs. I hate asking, but I don’t have enough cash right now either.
Jake,
This sounds serious. Maybe we can split the expenses? It feels weird helping someone when things have been so cold between you, but family’s family. How much are we talking about?
Emma,
I really appreciate that, Jake. The hospital bills are around $800, plus we need to get groceries and medicine for her. I can maybe cover half if you can swing the rest. It’s tough, but I guess we have to put the past aside.
Jake,
You’re right. Let’s do it together. I’ll transfer you half today. It’s not just about money either—we need to make sure Aunt Lisa feels welcome while she’s here. Let’s talk later about how to handle this as a team.
Emma,
Thanks so much, Jake. Honestly, this could help us heal some old wounds too. I’ll call her tonight and try to make her feel at home. Hopefully, this unexpected visit brings something good after all.
Jake,
That’s a good way to see it. Looking forward to figuring out this new challenge with you. Talk soon.
