When Your Parking Meter Talks Back

John parked his car near his office every day. One evening, after a long day, he checked the parking meter. To his surprise, it showed a higher fee than usual. "That’s odd," he said. "I only paid for three hours."

He talked to the parking meter screen, which surprisingly replied, "The fees are adjusted for late-night parking to keep spots free."

John was confused. The city had installed a new AI system in meters to control parking better, but he didn’t know about extra charges after 6 PM. He worried because his budget was tight and these unexpected fees were hard to pay.

He tried calling customer service. "I don’t understand these fees," John explained. "I parked like before, but now the bill is higher."

The assistant said, "Our new AI adjusts fees to manage demand. It’s a new system."

John felt frustrated but realized technology sometimes causes problems, especially for people living paycheck to paycheck. He decided to talk to his neighbors about these changes to find a way together to handle the costs.
